Paul Huxley studied at Harrow School of Art from 1951 to 1956, and subsequently at the Royal Academy Schools from 1956 to 1960. He taught at the Royal College of Art from 1976, becoming Professor of Painting there from 1986 until 1998, when he was appointed Professor Emeritus.
He has shown nationally and internationally including solo shows at Rhodes, Mann, London and group shows including Metamorphosis the Changing Face of British Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Andros, Greece. He has taken part in numerous exhibitions at the Royal Academy, London, the most recent being Royal Academicians in China in early 2006.
"Red neon signs appear everywhere in Shanhgai's vast consumer landscape. I'm drawn to them. Like their bold characters, the shapes I paint create a play between abstract form and language".
